1. NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN by the King’s Harbour Master Portsmouth, that a Cross Solent Swim will take place on Saturday 12 August 2023, between Ryde Sands and Gilkicker.
2. There will be twelve swimmers, participating in the crossing. Each swimmer will be accompanied by a kayaker acting as an individual support craft. The lead support vessel will be ‘SWIM CONTROL / XENOTE’, a 6.0m Bayliner sports boat. There will be three other support vessels; ‘PLANE LAZY’ a 5.8 m white hulled fishing boat, ‘NO WORRIES’ a 5.2m white RHIB and ‘VALIANT’ a 4.5m white RHIB with grey tubes. A listening watch will be maintained on VHF Ch11 and Ch12 throughout.
3. The swim route is from Gilkicker to Ryde Sands, the swimmers will depart at 1130 and all swimmers should complete the crossing by approximately 1500. The support craft will display the International Code Flag ‘ALPHA’ while escorting the swimmers.
4. In case of poor weather on Saturday 12 August the swim will be postponed until Sunday 13 August starting at 1215 and completing by 1600.
5. Mariners are requested to keep a good lookout and pass well clear of the swimmers and the support craft during their crossing of the Solent.
