1. NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN by the King’s Harbour Master Portsmouth, that a Royal Yachting Association (RYA) On-Water Sea Survival Exercise will take place in Osborne Bay on the afternoon of Tuesday 10 October 2023. 

2. The exercise will commence at approximately 1300, and complete by about 1700, and take place at approximately 50 45.4N 001 13.7W. 

3. The first phase of the exercise will involve the use of white hand and parachute flares, followed by the deployment of two inflatable liferafts, both of which will be anchored. Personnel will then embark into the liferafts.

4. From about 1530, a Coastguard helicopter, if available, will recover personnel from the liferafts, after which the rafts will be deflated and recovered to the supporting craft. Should the helicopter not be available, personnel will be recovered to the supporting craft.

5. Support craft will consist of two launches, "Blue Swan" and "Black Swan", which will coordinate the exercise. Each launch will be supported by two Rigid Inflatable Boats (RIBs), making a total of six vessels.

6. Solent Coastguard, VTS Southampton and KHM Portsmouth will be contacted prior to exercise start and the launches will listen on VHF 11/12/16 at all times during the exercise.
 
7. Mariners are requested to keep clear of the area while liferafts are deployed and recovered and during helicopter operations.
