1. NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN by the King’s Harbour Master Portsmouth that on Thursday 16 November 2023, at approximately 1930, a short pyrotechnic display which will take place from a Baker Trayte barge, held in the centre of the main channel off the stern of HMS WARRIOR. The firework display will last for approximately five minutes and is part of a Diwali celebration.

2. The barge will be positioned in the centre of the channel, abeam HMS Warrior, just before the display, under control of the Baker Trayte multi-cat “UNCLE BILL”, with the precise position dependent on the wind conditions on the day. An exclusion zone of 100 metres radius will be established around the barge for the duration of the display. 

3. KHM will establish a short closed harbour period for all traffic (including vessels under 20 metres in length) to ensure no traffic movements are in progress in the area from the Ballast Pile in the south to the northern edge of the Oil Fuel Jetty in the north. This will be established on VHF Ch11, and no large ships will be allowed to pass OSB or depart from Portsmouth International Port in the period 1900 to 1930. No vessels will be permitted to be underway in the area between Ballast Pile and the northern edge of Oil Fuel Jetty during the period 1920 to 1945. Wightlink car ferries may be permitted to continue operations at KHM’s discretion.

5. Mariners are advised to remain clear of this activity and be aware of the impact of pyrotechnics on their night vision and hearing. A sécurité broadcast will be made by KHM prior to, and on completion of the event.
