Sport and fitness

Staying fit and playing sport are essential to a successful future in the Royal Navy. Whether you’re a budding Olympian, fitness fanatic, or need to up your game, you’ll be able to take part in a huge range of sports. That means favourites like football and rugby, through to the more unusual, such as klettersteig and kite-surfing. With our support and facilities, you can achieve your goals – whatever they may be.

Being in great shape is part of daily life in the Royal Navy. You always need to be mentally and physically fit, because you’ll find yourself in physically challenging situations, on and off the sports field. So if you’re on shore or at sea, on deployment or on leave, you’ll always have access to a free gym and sports facilities. See  more about how to get fit to join.
