1. NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN by the Queen's Harbour Master Portsmouth that a Cross Solent Swim will take place on Saturday 10 September 2016.
2. Two swimmers will be taking part in the event each accompanied by two kayaks acting as individual safety craft. There will be an additional two safety craft – a 27ft yacht call sign ‘Black Prince’ and a 17ft vessel call sign ‘Presley’. A listening watch will be maintained on VHF Ch11 and Ch12 throughout.
3. The route for the swim is from Ryde Sands to Gilkicker, starting at 1500 and completing by approximately 1800.
4. In the event of poor weather, the swim will be postponed until Sunday 11 September 2016. The starting time will be 1630 and completing approximately 1930.
5. All support craft will display the International Code Flag ‘ALPHA’ while escorting the swimmers.
6. Mariners are requested to keep a good lookout and pass well clear of the swimmers and the support craft during their crossing of the Solent.
