1.    NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN by the Queen's Harbour Master Portsmouth that Thunder Cat Racing will take place over the period inclusive of 8-10 July 2016. The racing craft will be based on the Southsea Beach/ Common, Portsmouth, for this period and racing will take place on water between 50 46’.50N – 01 05’.32W and 50 46’50N – 01 04’.60W extending back to the Southsea Beach/ Common foreshore between Southsea Castle and South Parade Pier.

2.    Thunder Cat craft are very fast rigid hull inflatable’s (RIBs) and are capable of speeds in excess of 40 knots. It is anticipated that multiple teams will compete in this series, and racing will be on a relatively short course, which will make for a spectacular event.

3.    Given the speed of the craft involved, the arrangements for this event will be extensive, and are primarily focussed on ensuring the safety of competitors, other personnel involved in the racing, spectators and other water users.

4.    Temporary racing marks will be laid before each days racing to mark the course and turning points. The racing area is to be clear of all vessels other than competitors, marshal vessels and support craft.

5.    QHM Harbour Control will be kept informed of the event in progress and may be contacted on VHF Ch 11 or by telephoning 023 9272 3694 for the latest information.
