1. NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN by the Queen's Harbour Master Portsmouth that a non-stop charity solo swim will take place around the Isle of Wight in aid of Meningitis Now and Marine Conservation Society.
2. One swimmer will be taking part in the event and will be closely followed by two kayaks. In addition there will be three support craft – a 45 foot yacht call sign ‘Lisa’, a 5.8m RIB call sign ‘Safety’ and a 6.2m RIB call sign ‘Roselyn’.
3. The swim route will be in an anti-clockwise direction from Ryde Sands and, weather dependant, will start at 0630 on Tuesday 30 August. The swim will take approximately twenty five hours. The swimmer and his safety craft will remain generally inshore and outside of the main navigation channels within the Solent.
4. A listening watch on VHF Ch11, Ch12, Ch16 and Ch67 will be maintained as the swim progresses.
5. The escort craft will display the International Code Flag ‘ALPHA’ while escorting the swimmer.
6. Mariners are requested to keep a good lookout and pass well clear of the swimmers and the support craft during the swim.
