LNTM No 29/24

1. NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN by the King's Harbour Master Portsmouth that a trial
Saluting Gun firing will take place on Wednesday 31 January 2024 from the southern
point of South Railway Jetty in His Majesty’s Naval Base Portsmouth.

2. The trial will take place from 1100 to approximately 1200 and will involve the firing of
approximately 36 rounds.

3. To ensure safety during the firing, as allowed in the provisions of the Dockyard Port
of Portsmouth Order 2005, KHM will impose an exclusion zone for all marine traffic as
shown in the diagram below. Large traffic to/from the Naval Base or Portsmouth
International Port will be held or have its speed adjusted to ensure the exclusion zone
is clear. Ministry of Defence Police launches and KHM Patrol will ensure small craft keep
out of the exclusion zone.

4. Mariners are advised to remain clear of this exclusion zone. Due to the extended
nature of the firing serial, firings will be suspended for short periods to allow the transit
of vessels as directed by KHM. During such periods, vessels are requested to clear the
exclusion zone promptly to allow firings to continue.

5. A sécurité broadcast will be made by KHM enacting the exclusion zone at 1050.
A further broadcast will be made to disestablish the exclusion zone immediately on
completion of the trial.

6. Cancel this Local Notice to Mariners 1 February 2024.
