CAPITAL & MAINTENANCE DREDGING AT HMNB PORTSMOUTH 10 – 26 JANUARY 2024

1. NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN by the King's Harbour Master Portsmouth that both Capital dredging and Maintenance Dredging will be conducted in the maintained areas within Portsmouth Harbour and its approach channels for approximately an 8 day period between the 10 to 26 January 2024. 

2.  The Capital works will be focused on the western end of Fountain Lake, specifically on berths 1 and 2 with maintenance operations taking place in the Bedenham Pier Approach channel but also with the possibility of operating in the Main Portsmouth Approach Channel. The contractor for the works will be Boskalis Westminster Ltd using the plough vessel “OBERVARGH” (LOA 15.3m), Trailing Suction Hopper Dredger (TSHD) “CAUSEWAY” (LOA 92.1m) and supported by small tug “F48” (LOA 14.0m) which will carrying out all necessary survey operations. Spoil from the dredging activity will be disposed at the NAB Spoil Ground. All three vessels will display the appropriate signals when operational.

3. Mariners are requested to keep a good lookout and pass at slow speed while dredging operations are being conducted. All dredging and surveying craft will maintain a listening watch on VHF Ch 11 throughout operations.

4. KHM Harbour Control will be kept informed of work in progress and will de-conflict movements with other marine traffic. They can be contacted on VHF Ch 11 or by telephoning 02392 723689 for the latest information.
