PLYMOUTH LOCAL NOTICE TO MARINERS 017/22

KING POINT MARINA - MILLBAY INNER BASIN - DIRECTION

1. This notice is a direction by the Queen’s Harbour Master Plymouth pursuant to the Dockyard Port of Plymouth Order 2020.

2. The entrance to the King Point Marina facility situated in Millbay Inner basin is marked as follows:

Port side of the entrance: 50° 21.914’N 004° 09.336’W                                                 Fl.R 2.5s

Stbd side of the entrance: 50° 21.905’N 004° 09.307’W                                                Fl.G 2.5s

3. A floating wave attenuation pontoon has been installed to protect the Marina in bad weather and will be deployed when required; preventing both access to and egress from the Marina Basin. The pontoon, when deployed, will be illuminated by shore-side spot lights along with six flashing orange lights along its length.

4. A traffic light system is in place to indicate whether the Marina is open (three fixed vertical green lights) or closed (three fixed vertical red lights). The traffic lights are operated remotely by Sutton Harbour Lock Control and are situated on the West side of the entrance to King Point Marina in position:

North facing: 50° 21.939’N 004° 09.353’W

South facing: 50° 21.914’N 004° 09.336.W

Vessels are not to attempt to enter or depart King Point Marina when three vertical fixed red lights are displayed.

5. In addition to periods of bad weather, transit to and from the Marina will also be suspended for movements of large vessels within Millbay outer basin. The traffic lights will be red indicating that the marina closed.

6. All vessels are to contact either Sutton Harbour Lock or King Point Marina for clearance prior to entering or leaving King Point Marina.
