SEA SURVIVAL OPEN WATER DRILL

1. NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN by the Queen’s Harbour Master Portsmouth that a sea survival open water drill will take place on Wednesday 25 September 2019 from 1300-1730.

2. Two life rafts will be deployed at Lee-on-the-Solent (50° 47’.9 N    001° 13’.5 W) or in Osborne Bay (50° 45’.4 N 001° 14’.7 W) supported by two motor vessels, call signs 'BLUE SWAN' and 'BLACK SWAN' and two grey 7.5m RIBS call signs 'ASA RIB' and 'SETT SAFETY RIB'. A listening watch will be maintained on VHF channel 11 and 12 throughout.

3. The drill will undertake basic sea survival techniques primarily within the two life rafts. During the drill, twelve white flares will be set off from the life rafts.

4. At approximately 1530 the Search and Rescue helicopter will participate in the sea survival drill.

5. In the event of poor weather conditions, the drill will be relocated to Fareham creek. The activities and timings will remain the same however the helicopter operations will not be conducted.
