LNTM No 21/19

1. NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN by the Queen's Harbour Master Portsmouth that on the evening of Wednesday 20th March 2019 a pyrotechnic display will take place from three barges located in the tidal basin, approximately 300 metres north of North Corner Jetty in HMNB Portsmouth.

2. Mariners are advised that for safety reasons, an exclusion zone of 300 metres (as depicted) will be in place around the barges from 1920 - 1950. The display is due to commence at 1935 and will last approximately 12 minutes

3. The perimeter of the exclusion zone will be maintained by the QHM Patrol RIB and the MOD Marine Police. These craft will use blue flashing lights as necessary to enforce the exclusion zone. Other harbour users are to obey their directions and leave the exclusion zone when requested to do so. All patrol craft will monitor VHF Channel 11.

4. Three barges will serve as launch platforms with one large crane barge in the centre (in position 50 48.57N 001 06.70W) and two smaller barges either side (total length 200 metres).  The barges will be fully lit.  Before and after the display they will be located to the north of the navigable channel between 99 and 101 piles.  They will be moved in to position at approximately 1750 and return by 2050.

5. Mariners are advised to remain clear of this activity and be aware of the impact of pyrotechnics on their night vision and hearing. A broadcast will be made by QHM on VHF Channel 11 advising mariners when the exclusion zone is in force, prior to and on completion of the event.

6. Cancel this Local Notice to Mariners 21st March 2019.
