LNTM No 26/19

1. NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN by the Queen’s Harbour Master Portsmouth that as part of the IFA2 Interconnector Project, nearshore works will take place to the west of the Daedalus slipway, adjacent to the Monks Hill Car Park at Lee-on-the-Solent.  The works, involving a Jack-Up Barge and obstructions on the beach and in to the water, are due to take place from Monday 29 April with expected completion by the end of June 2019.

2. An overview of the works area is shown below. The works involve excavation and pipes to be installed on the beach.  The pipes will be stored ashore and will be brought from the site compound down the beach for the installation.  Mariners are advised that a fence and piles will be installed from the beach into the intertidal zone. The fencing shall extend up to 200m offshore (from Monks Hill Car Park) and the piles shall extend up to 130m offshore (from Monks Hill Car Park). These will be submerged during high tides and will be an obstacle in the water. The fencing shall be demarcated by pink marker buoys as will any piles that remain above bed level. These should not be confused with the yellow marker buoys used to demarcate the adjacent Personal Watercraft Area at Daedalus Slipway.

3. The Beach works are being carried out using the 18.3m x 18.3m Jack-Up Barge, C57 RED SQUIRREL (MMSI 377744000).  This will be towed by the tug WILLPOWER (MMSI 235104618) which will also be used for supporting work.  The 30m spud leg barge WILCARRY 501 will also be used for material transfer.  Other supporting vessels may also be used at short notice.

4. Vessels are requested to remain outside the marked works area, passing at a safe speed and distance (approximately 200 metres).  Vessels should also pass at a safe speed and distance (approximately 500 metres) from all construction and support vessels which will be restricted in their ability to manoeuvre while carrying out the works. The vessels will monitor VHF Channel 12 and 16 at all times.

5. Cancel this LNTM 14 July 2019.
