AUV OPERATIONS - INFORMATION

1. This notice is issued for information by the Queen’s Harbour Master Plymouth.

2. During the period 16 -18 August 2016, an Autonomous Underwater Vehicle (AUV) will carry out remote surface trials within the Dockyard Port of Plymouth in Cawsand Bay.

3. The AUV is bright orange and 10m in length.  It will be escorted at all times by a support vessel callsign ‘Falcon Spirit’ and a RIB.  The AUV will be towed to and from the trials area by the support vessel which will display appropriate lights and shapes as required by the International Regulations for Preventing Collisions at Sea, and will monitor VHF Channel 14 throughout.   

4. Longroom Port Control Station will regulate the operations keeping other water users advised of the area of operations.  Mariners are requested to pass at a safe distance from the UAV and support vessel and to minimise wash.
