1. NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN by the Queen's Harbour Master Portsmouth that HMS QUEEN ELIZABETH will conduct a trial of her Marine Evacuation System (MES) while alongside Princess Royal Jetty in HMNB Portsmouth.  The trial will last approximately 3 hours and will take place sometime between 1000 on Fri 2 and 1600 on Sun 4 March 2018; exact timing will be weather dependant.

2.   The MES deployment will consist of three sets of orange slides and liferafts extending in to the harbour.  Fifteen minutes prior to activation, a broadcast will be made on VHF Channel 11 and the attendant Ministry of Defence Police Boats will extend their cordon out to 150 metres from the ship’s side where they will remain until the liferafts and slides are detached and recovered.

 

3.   Vessels are to pass wide and slow during the trial.  QHM Harbour Control will be kept informed of the trial progress and can be contacted on VHF Ch 11 or by telephoning 023 9272 3689.

4.   Cancel this LNTM on 5 March 2018.
