1. NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN jointly by the Queen’s Harbour Master Portsmouth and the Harbour Master ABP Southampton, that as part of the IFA2 Interconnector Project, Unexploded Ordnance (UXO) disposal works are due to take place in the eastern Solent from 15 May – 17 May 2020 in order to dispose of an identified item close to the cable route. 

2. Dive works in position 50⁰ 44.686'N 001⁰ 6.118'W will commence on 15 May, conducted by EORCA UK using the vessel H M DENHAM (MMSI 235062807 Callsign LANR)  

 

3. Following the completion of diving operations, on Saturday 16 May the item of UXO will be towed to the Ordnance Disposal Area (X5037) in position 50⁰ 44.725'N 001 07.500'W.

4. Vessels are requested to keep their distance, maintaining at least a 500 metre exclusion zone around the vessel and are to pass at minimum safe speed. Large vessels needing to pass within 500 metres, are to contact H M DENHAM directly. In addition, all vessels should monitor VHF Channel 16, 12 or 11 for information regarding exclusion zones up to 1000 metres which will be in place around the item of UXO prior to its planned disposal.

5. Three support craft will be in attendance and act as marshals for the disposal operation; BARRACUDA GOSPORT, BARRACUDA PORTSMOUTH and an 8.5 metre EOD RHIB. Securite broadcasts will be made over VHF Channels 16, 11 and 12 at four hours and one hour ahead of disposal and then 30 mins, 20 mins, 10 mins and 10 seconds prior to disposal.

6. QHM Harbour Control and VTS Southampton will be kept informed of the progress of the UXO disposal and can be contacted on VHF Channels 11 or 12 respectively.
