What a week for Royal Navy Rowing!

Storyline: Rowing

Royal Navy Rowing had a busy week last week, competing in fine and gig boat regattas.

The week started with a training camp at Wimbleball Lake, where the team prepared for the Joint Services Regatta on the 14th of September.

Meanwhile, The Royal Navy Portsmouth Gig Club and the Culdrose Pilot Gig Club represented the Royal Navy at the Great River Race on the 16th of September.

A hectic week for both domains of our boat club has resulted in success for the Royal Navy! The conditions, with light winds and warm weather, could not have been more perfect for both events.

The competition was fierce at the Joint Services Regatta, with the interservice races in particular drumming up rivalry!

After a busy day of racing, the Royal Navy won in the Novice Men’s single, Master Men’s Single, Master Men’s double and the Improver Women’s double.

The Great River Race saw both crews racing 21.6 miles down the River Thames. The Royal Navy Portsmouth Gig Club placed 3rd for the fastest GRP gig!

BZ to all involved in an excellent week of racing for the Royal Navy Rowing Association.
