This year’s batch of Physical Training Instructors (PTIs) put on an incredible show of strength, fitness, and agility in their passing out parade.

Navy VIPs, family, and friends gathered for the event which took place at HMS Temeraire, in Portsmouth.

The performance displayed the skill and physical prowess required to be a Royal Navy Physical Trainer. Starting the show with the traditional hornpipe and demonstrating rope climbing, acrobatics, club swinging and even pyrotechnics.

LPTQC 69 was made up of LPTs: Barnes, Colebourn, Hayes, Heads, Hird, Lyndon, Marsh and Newcombe, who brilliantly demonstrated how far they have come on their 26-week journey to becoming qualified Royal Navy PTIs.

The event celebrated the traditional ways sailors used to keep fit, also entertaining the audience with a comedy sketch filmed by the PTIs over the duration of their course.

The parade closed with a presentation of certificates, PT badges, and prizes by guest of honour Fleet Commander Vice Admiral Ben Key.

Leading the new LPTs through their course was No.1 Staff Instructor, POPT Thomas Monday who said, “I am so proud and excited as their No.1 to watch from a far, the latest tranche of LPT’s moving into the fleet to make a positive impact on the lives of so many sailors around the globe.

Each one has rightfully earned the prestigious ‘Crossed Clubs’ and they should be proud of what they have achieved. Taking these eight, now LPT’s through LPTQC 69 was an honour and career highlight, something I will treasure long past my time serving in the Royal Navy.”

All 8 newly qualified PTIs have been assigned to bases across the UK to start their journey as Leading Physical Trainers in the Royal Navy.
