Mariners are advised that The Queen’s Harbour Master Portsmouth has made the following General Direction under the Dockyard Port of Portsmouth Order 2005 that special regulations for the safe navigation of gas tankers remain in force within the Solent. They apply to all gas tankers loaded or partly loaded and to gas tankers which have not been rendered gas free.
  2. Gas tankers in transit within the Solent may not enter an area in which the visibility is less than 1/2 nautical mile.
  3. Before navigating within the area between North Sturbridge Buoy and the Warner Buoy, all gas tankers must establish communications with Queen’s Harbour Master Portsmouth on VHF Ch 11 to advise of their transit and to ascertain movements into and out of Portsmouth Harbour.
