HMS Drake take the crown at Western Region Hockey Championships 21 September 2023 Storyline: Hockey The Western Region Indoor Hockey Championships were held at the Wyvern Centre, HMS Drake, on Wednesday, 20 September. Over 30 people were in attendance representing HMS Drake, HMS Heron and HMS Seahawk. HMS Drake ran out convincing winners with comfortable wins over both their opposition, scoring an impressive 17 goals across the two games. In the battle of the Air Stations, HMS Heron ran out eventual victors with a 6-2 win. Hockey Sports Development Officer Steve Lemon said, “The standard of the competition was excellent, and we saw several new players who we look forward to welcoming into the association. “Special thanks to LPT Jason Roberts and all the staff at the Wyvern Centre for their support in facilitating the event.” Next up on the Royal Navy hockey calendar is the Indoor Inter-Region Competition at HMS Drake on the 4-5th October.
