Ex Zen C dive to the depths of adventure in Cyprus

Storyline: Sub-Aqua Diving

Royal Navy and Royal Marines personnel continue their deep-sea diving exploration in Ex Zen C.

Amidst the crystal-clear waters of Cyprus, Royal Navy and Marines personnel experienced a two-week sub-aqua diving extravaganza, cunningly named Ex Zen C. The expedition was a blend of bubbles, fins, and unexpected underwater dance moves.

Taking adventurous training to the next level, week one alone saw the group emerge with 3 newly certified sports divers, 10 incredible dives and a mix of thrilling wreck and enchanting reef exploration.

Supervising the group was CPO Baz Chambers, who said, “Surpassing all expectations, we clocked in an impressive 209 dives, creating a symphony of synchronized bubbles that surely confused the local marine life.

‘Our team emerged from the depths not just with waterproof camaraderie but also a bounty of qualifications; PADI crossover courses, sports divers, a dive leader, and an advanced diver. All progressed their depths to the limits of military recreational diving of 40m if they wanted to, and because we like to keep things interesting, we also came back with a certified boat handler who can now navigate the high seas with unmatched finesse (and maybe a few seagull hecklers).”

Special kudos to the group supervisors, Baz Chambers and John Devonport, who we bid a fond farewell as he ventures beyond the realm of Royal Marines.

Baz commented, “A special thanks to Lwtr Stacey Liggett, our fearless leader, who steered us through the abyss with aplomb.

Here is to more underwater escapades in 2024 and beyond, as we prepare to explore the depths of the globe and perhaps teach a clownfish or two some new tricks.”
