What are we doing?

Mounts Bay was already in the region - we maintain a presence in areas likely to be hit by extreme weather. She quickly reached the hard-hit British Virgin Islands, where a Wildcat Helicopter took to the skies to deliver supplies and aid and practical support.

24 Commando Royal Engineers shared skills and equipment to repair infrastructure and re-open damaged routes. Meanwhile, Royal Marines from 40 Commando helped to distribute aid and support local police. We also supported the people of the Turks and Caicos and Dominica.

HMS Ocean diverted from the Mediterranean to help the islanders get back on their feet after the hurricanes passed, bringing equipment and over 60 tonnes of essential aid – from building materials and medical help, through to toys and 4x4s.
