At a special ceremony at Royal Naval Air Station Culdrose, the Head of the Fleet Air Arm presented commendations to Civil Servants at the Base who had shown outstanding commitment.
Rear Admiral Keith Blount OBE, (ACNS (A & C)), praised their hard work and their exceptionally high standards supporting the Fleet Air Arm community.
Receiving individual commendations were;
• Gillian Wilton, Executive Department Staff Officer. Gillian has worked at Culdrose for 34 years and as the Exec Staff officer has made an outstanding contribution to the Base. Her central position has been essential to the complex tapestry of over 2800 military, civilian contractors and civil servants that make up the work force for Culdrose.
• Theresa ‘Terri’ Hunt, Air Staff Officer. Terri has supported every facet of Fleet Air Arm’s Operations at Culdrose. Over her 25 year career at the Base she has delivered exemplary service throughout, in particular for the past 18 years as Air Staff Officer. A stalwart of Culdrose, Terri is held in high esteem by both civilian and military personnel at the Air Station.
• Tony Wysocki, Sea King Full Mission Trainer simulator. Tony has been a driver in the Sea King Simulator for the past 10 years and has constantly gone beyond expectations for his position. Despite limited resources he has become critical to Force Generation Success and constantly produces a valuable input to training and recently recognised by Naval Flying Standards with a recommendation.
Two groups were also recognised with awards through the Minor Award Scheme. This scheme recognises civil servants who receive a non-monetary recognition for special efforts or performances in achievement of one-off tasks. This year’s awards went to;
Graphic & Print Centre:
In recognition of the exemplary support by the Graphics Studio & Print Centre sections; who carried out some 66 Graphics tasks of varying complexity for Air Day 2016.
As well as delivering value for money products at short notice with staff willingly remaining flexible to complete tasks, they often had to reschedule other core work.
The first team award goes to Jeremy Semmens, Antony Allen, Damien Solomon, Alfred Pond and Margaret Peacock and recognises their valued contribution to a hugely successful event.
Combined Accommodation Office:
During the busiest period of the year for the Combined Accommodation Office (CAB), in the lead up to RNAS Culdrose Air Day, the CAB Team were hit with a short-notice task to relocate the occupants of three accommodation blocks in order to facilitate essential maintenance works.
The complexity and short-notice nature of the task cannot be underestimated and it is certain that the safety-critical maintenance work to fire alarms could not have proceeded without the hard work and careful planning of the CAB Team.
The second team award went to Mark Baldwin, Alan Tasker and Nicola Poole and recognises their outstanding support to the welfare of personnel living at Culdrose.
