HMS Sultan Royal Naval cadets grow leadership skills at development camp

Senior Royal Naval Cadets (RNC) from HMS Sultan recently completed a week long development camp, full of hands on, challenging and fun activities designed to develop their leadership and teamwork skills.

Each day had a different theme including planning Map and Compass exercises in the New Forest, Weapon handling skills & Admiralty Interview Board Practical Leadership Tasks and pioneering exercises within Fort Grange.

In addition the Cadets visited the Royal Naval Leadership Academy, HMS Collingwood, with a brief on the functions of leadership and low ropes activities including use of the Spiders Web, Swing and Trust Fall.

To celebrate the successful completion of the training Cadets were treated to an evening of entertainment at the HMS Sultan Bonfire & Fireworks Night.

Warrant Officer Mark Branson, Commanding Officer of Sultan RNC said: “The camp went very well, there’s been lots of positive feedback from the cadets and staff.

"You could definitely see the difference it made to the cadets, especially some of the quieter members of the group who really grew in confidence over the week.”
