MOD Police help Clyde kids stay safe and seen

Ministry of Defence Police at HM Naval Base Clyde paid an educational visit to Clyde Nursery in December to help support their Safety Awareness Week.

Community Police Officer PC Ian Mustarde headed to the local Carousel-owned nursery to speak to the young kids about road safety and how to be safe and be seen.

Eighty-one children were given pointers on cycling safety, the importance of being seen when crossing the road and the dangers of mum and dad texting while driving.

The safety message was reinforced with gift bags, containing reflecting slap bands and a torch, donated by the Safety Culture Team at HM Naval Base Clyde.

“It was fantastic to be able to visit the kids and take part in their Safety Awareness Week,” said PC Ian Mustarde. 

“I took along a bicycle helmet, some safety pads and reflective jacket to show them why it was important to be safe. 

“We also managed to give all the children a shot in the police car which they seemed to really enjoy.

“I’d like to thank the staff at Clyde Nursery for inviting us and the Safety Culture Team for kindly donating the gift bags.”
