Introduction

1. Mariners are advised that the King's Harbour Master (KHM) Clyde has made the following General Direction under the Clyde Dockyard Port of Gareloch and Loch Long Order 2011.

Procedure

2. For diving in Faslane on vessels or infrastructure all Military and Commercial Diving Supervisors are to contact the ICCC Control Room to inform them that divers are about to start their diving task(s) or have completed their diving task(s).  This step is prior to contacting KHM Harbour Control and is to be actioned during the following times:

Monday to Thursday 0700 – 1700

Friday 0700 – 1600

Saturday and Sunday 0800 – 1600

3.  The primary method to contact the ICCC is via phone to 01436 674321 ext. 6491 or 7339.  If within the Green Area (no mobile phone capability) the Diving Supervisor should relay the information via either callsign ‘Police Boat in the Boom’ (stationed inside the boom) or callsign ‘Police Boat 1’ (stationed outside the boom) on VHF Ch73 These vessels do have a telephone and will inform the ICCC by phone or police radio. The police launch is to confirm to the Dive Supervisor that the message has been passed to the ICCC.

4. If outside the boom and the Dive Tender has a telephone, they can call the ICCC direct using the numbers above. However, VHF Ch73 to the callsigns above remains the preferred method of communication.

5. The Diving Supervisor must get positive confirmation that the message has been relayed and acknowledged by the ICCC prior to contacting and confirming this with KHM Harbour Control.

6.  Out with the hours in paragraph 2 contact the Duty Naval Base Officer direct (Callsign - FOSNI Ops) on VHF Ch73 or call on 01436 674321 ext. 4005 or 01436 677232, when starting or completing diving. The DNBO will inform the ICCC.

7. This General Direction will be reviewed by 10 Jan 2023.
