Flight Commander Lieutenant Serena Davidson , from Royal Naval Air Station Culdrose, has been awarded a commendation for her work in the Gulf.

Lieutenant Davidson, the Flight Commander of Palembang Flight of 849 Naval Air Squadron was presented with her Commander Joint Operations (CJO) Commendation by the New Fleet Commander, Vice Admiral Ben Key CBE.

Serena picks up her commendation for her role as Sea King Airborne Surveillance and Control (SKASaC) Liaison Officer whilst deployed in the Gulf. In particular, it is in recognition of her work with the United States Carrier Strike Group (CSG), for which she was singled out by the Admiral Commanding the USS Carl Vinson CSG for her extensive knowledge and professionalism.

"It is great to see such a prestigious award being given to one of the SKASaC Team for achievements above and beyond,” said Commander Roger Kennedy, CO of 849 NAS.

“Serena is a highly valued member of my team and I am very proud of her achievements!"

“I feel very honoured to receive the CJO Commendation,” said Lt Serena.

“Part of my job was to liaise with several planning Battle-groups and be the subject matter expert for everything to do with SKASaC.

"Working with so many different agencies and the other coalition navies was hard work but very rewarding.”

And it doesn’t stop there for Serena. The CJO award follows her recent selection for promotion to Lieutenant Commander and rounds off an extremely successful period as Palembang Flight Commander.

I feel very honoured to receive the CJO Commendation.
