75th Anniversary | Victory over Japan Day (VJ Day)

Victory over Japan day (VJ Day) is the day on which Imperial Japan surrendered and effectively brought WWII to an end.

Compared to VE Day, VJ Day is a time when the Royal Navy, working closely with the US, Navy ‘come into their own’. In particular, the Royal Navy was the only British force that contributed to operations aimed directly against the Japanese mainland.

Keep an eye on our Facebook and Twitter pages as we share key moments in history that led to VJ Day.

The 75th anniversary will provide our nation, and our friends around the world, with an opportunity to reflect on the enormous sacrifice, courage, and determination of people from all walks of life who saw us through this dark and terrifying period.
