KHM Clyde / Safety and regulations / Regulations

Use of drones

HMNB Clyde, as a nuclear facility, is covered by CAA recognised No Fly Zone P611 (underpinned in legislation by The Air Navigation (Restriction of Flying) (Nuclear Installations) Regulations 2016) which forbids the transiting of non-authorised aircraft. It should also be noted that the Clyde Dockyard Port and MoD land surrounding HMNB Clyde (Faslane & Coulport) are covered by a Drone No Fly Zone and any attempted drone activity attracts Police attention.

If permission is granted to use an Unmanned Aerial System (drone), we require the following information:

  • All Contact details / mobile phone numbers for key personnel
  • All Risk Assessment paperwork
  • Public Liability Insurance
  • Personal details of the Drone Pilot and associated personnel
  • Drone Documentation and map of flight plan
  • Location of where the Drone Pilot will be operating from
