SPEED RESTRICTIONS - HM NAVAL BASE PORTSMOUTH

1. NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN by the King's Harbour Master Portsmouth that speed restrictions and exclusion zones are now enforced off HM Naval Base Portsmouth berths and vessels alongside when diving operations are being conducted. 

2. Under the terms of the Dockyard Port of Portsmouth Order 2005, a maximum 6 knot (over the ground) speed limit is imposed on all vessels leaving, or arriving to, 2 basin and 9 dock until, or from, 50m west and North of South West Wall. 

Also, a 50m exclusion zone is imposed around the whole of the seaward side of South West Wall (except for vessels berthing, un berthing or involved in diving operations on the berth).

3. Vessels entering or leaving 2 Basin must contact Portsmouth VTS on VHF Ch 11 so that diving operations can be halted prior to permission being given to cross the exclusion zone. 

4. All vessels involved in diving operations will display Flag code ‘Alfa’ and Portsmouth VTS will advise all transiting marine traffic of the operation on VHF Ch 11.

5. Mariners are requested to keep a good lookout and pass at slow speed when diving operations are being undertaken.

7. Local Notice to Mariners 70/25 is hereby superseded.
