PLYMOUTH LOCAL NOTICE TO MARINERS 053/24

CATTEWATER HARBOUR OIL SPILL EXERCISE – INFORMATION 

1. This notice is issued by the Kings Harbour Master Plymouth on behalf of the Cattewater Harbour Commissioners.
2. Mariners are advised that an Oil Spill Response Exercise will be undertaken in the vicinity of the Barbican Landing Stage and Sutton Channel from 0800-1300 on Tuesday 13th August.
3. The exercise will involve the deployment of approximately 100m of pollution response boom leading South South East from the Barbican Landing Stage and, as such, may lead to traffic restrictions in Sutton Channel. Any restrictions will be managed by the exercise team and communicated via VHF channel 14. NOTE: Sutton channel will not be fully closed as part of the exercise. Safety boats will be in attendance whilst the boom is deployed to marshal traffic if required.
4. The exercise will involve various harbour and Serco vessels, including tugs, workboats, ribs and pilot boats, some of which will be restricted in their ability to manoeuvre. 
5. Mariners are requested to pass the area at slow speed with minimum wash, and are to follow any direction given by any vessel or person involved with the exercise.
