HMS Forward Reservist completes 192 mile charity walk in 4 days

Reservist Rob Powell, a member of the Diving Branch from HMS Forward, last week completed a mammoth 192 mile charity walk in a record time of just four days.

Leading Hand Powell completed the epic challenge alongside his brother, Matt Powell, and their friend, Adam Watson, who walked over 40 miles a day to complete the Coast to Coast walk.

Although embarked on by many each year, very few complete the distance in such a short timeframe, with the average rambler taking two to three weeks to cover the 192 mile route.

However, in the quest for a challenge, the trio walked and ran over 40 miles a day – almost two marathons – from St Bees Bay in Cumbria to Robin Hood Bay in Scarborough.

To make the adventure even more demanding, Rob, Matt and Adam decided to cover the distance carrying all of the kit required to sustain them in England’s Yorkshire Moors, including tents, sleeping bags and food.

Sleeping under the stars and bathing in rivers, the three flaunted their adventurous spirits every step of the way.

The trio are raising money for various charities including Dementia UKBliss - a charity for premature babies - and The Charlotte and Craig Saving Hearts Foundation - an organisation that raises awareness and funds for lifesaving equipment such as defibrillators.
