Wildcat appears at the Weston-super-Mare Air Festival

A Wildcat helicopter from Royal Naval Air Station Yeovilton joined a crowd of thousands at the Weston Air Festival and Armed Forces Weekend 2017.

Members of the general public were given the opportunity to get up close to the Royal Navy’s newest operational helicopter Wildcat HMA Mk2.

Personnel from 825 Naval Air Squadron based at the Air Station in Somerset attended the event at Weston-super-Mare alongside one of their Wildcat helicopters.

Squadron Flight Crew were on hand to inform those members of the public how the latest edition to the Fleet Air Arm achieves frontline capability.

They also explained the roles it is capable of whilst embarked on Royal Navy warships deployed around the world, including the Queen Elizabeth Carrier Class Aircraft Carriers in the future.

A Wildcat Maritime Force role demonstration can be seen at RRNAS International Yeovilton Air Day this year on Saturday 8 July 2017.
