RFA Argus recent operations

RFA Argus sailed from Falmouth under the command of Captain Peter N Selby on the 23rd of January 2017.

Having completed a busy Scheduled Maintenance Period (SMP) at A & P Falmouth, she went straight in to a busy programme of Deck Landing Training (DLT) with 845 Squadron.

On the 25th of January she topped up on fuel with a Replenishment at Sea (RAS) with RFA Wave Ruler (who was accompanied by a pod of porpoises throughout the serial).

Captain Selby commented “It was great to have the ship back at sea after a successful maintenance period.

"Argus was able to show what it could do in both the PCRF and Aviation roles.

"Loading fuel at sea enabled the ship to load a considerable amount of fuel in a short time and reduce harbour hassle."

Captain Selby continued: "The embarkation of 656 Squadron was most successful with over 120 Deck Landings taking place in a short time.  All in all a most beneficial time at sea for all concerned."

After a brief visit to Portland for the weekend, flying training continued with 656 and 846 Squadrons.

Despite the January weather, both Chinooks and Apaches were able to complete their training.
