Royal Marines from 42 Commando Royal Marines and 4 Assault Squadron Royal Marines, who are part of the HMS Bulwark's ship's company, celebrated the corps 352nd birthday on board the ship while deployed.

A ceremony was staged on the flight deck under the middle east sun whilst deployed on Joint Expeditionary Force (Maritime) under the command of the Royal Navy’s Commander Amphibious Task Group, Commodore Andrew Burns.

The commanding officer of 42 Commando Royal Marines, Lieutenant Colonel Mark Totton, said: “42 Commando were delighted to celebrate the 352nd corps birthday, as the lead commando, on board HMS Bulwark.

“Deployed forward where it matters and integrated with the fleet has been a hallmark throughout our history and it's a fitting manner in which to mark another anniversary.”

This deployment demonstrates the the Royal Navy’s and the UK’s ability to deploy and operate worldwide, engaging closely with our allies and standing ready for whatever a deployment to an area of strategic interest to the UK can present.

This proves the Royal Navy’s continued ability to deploy highly effective and combat-capable maritime forces anywhere in the world.

The task group will provide a powerful military capability, giving HM Government a range of options to allow the UK to respond rapidly in the event of an overseas crisis.
