Role of 1 Assault Group

Made up of four separate units, 1 Assault Group are masters of small boat operations. They use fast, highly manoeuvrable watercraft to conduct hit-and-run operations on enemy ships and to deliver troops and equipment ashore.

The group also provides training in a number of areas, from engineering to assault navigation. One of the group’s sub-units, 11 Amphibious Trials and Training Squadron, is responsible for conducting trials and testing of future crafts.
