HMS Forth (P222)

HMS Forth is the first of five Offshore Patrol Vessels (OPV). She entered service in 2018, becoming the eyes and ears of the Royal Navy, both at home and abroad.

Role

Commanded by Commander Grahame Graham-Flint, as the first of the Royal Navy’s Batch 2 River Class Offshore Patrol Vessels (OPV), HMS Forth has been forward deployed on operations since 2019. 

Tasked as the South Atlantic Patrol Vessel, her remit is to protect our nation’s interests at sea and overseas territories, including Ascension Island, the Falkland Islands, and South Georgia & South Sandwich Islands.

Forth is able to support a range of missions, including counter-piracy, anti-smuggling, fishery protection, border patrol, counter terrorism, humanitarian aid, search and rescue, maritime security and defence diplomacy.
