Crew of HMS Triumph have been given a brand new, customised Speed Twin 900CC motorcycle by the legendary namesake manufacturer, to raffle – a thank-you to the T-boat for the long-standing friendship and association between the two.
For just £2 you could own a new Speed Twin 900CC – it would set you back more than £9,000 from a dealer.
Rated 4 out of 5 by the experts at Motorcycle News and with 64bhp powering it along, the bike will be given a unique touch: a bespoke submarine/HMS Triumph painted tank.
All funds raised from the raffle will be split between the Royal Navy and Royal Marines Charity and the boat’s favoured good cause in its affiliated town of Blackpool: Brian House Hospice.
Last year, crew presented more than £6,000 to the charity, which provides respite, palliative and end-of-life care for children and young people with life-limiting conditions in the Blackpool area.
That was expected to be the last big payout from the Devonport-based submarine, but more will be winging its way this autumn thanks to the generosity of the bike manufacturers.
They are currently building the bike at their works in Leicestershire, but gave the boat’s crew of what they (or the public) might win by loaning a similar model to the decommissioning event at HMS Drake in July.
The winner of the motorcycle will be drawn at the annual Submarine Service Awards on October 4.
Tickets are available from https://rnrmcharity.myshopify.com/products/triumph-motorcycle-raffle.
They are sold under license GAM/27307/1 on behalf of HMS Triumph. RNRMC are also licensed with the local authority 25/03057/GALOTT.
