Crew of the patrol ship joined soldiers, airmen, veterans and islanders for the annual service and thanksgiving marking the end of the 1982 conflict and the end of the Argentina junta’s two-month illegal occupation.
The anniversary is marked by a service in Stanley’s small but impressive Christ Church Cathedral – the most southerly Anglican cathedral in the world – followed by a march past the Liberation Monument a few hundred yards along the waterfront towards Government House.
The cathedral was packed for the service which saw the Colours from veterans’ groups spanning the forces paraded and the Military Wives Choir perform for the congregation.

And despite driving Falklands rain there was a good turnout on the seafront for the march past and act of remembrance; all three Forces provided a guard platoon, with the remaining personnel formed up around the liberation monument.
“Stand fast the weather, all in all it was a moving but fantastic celebration of this day,” said Lieutenant Jonathan ‘Scotty’ Lovell, HMS Clyde’s marine engineer officer.
"We were delighted to be involved, it was a true honour and I would like to think we as a ship’s company did the Royal Navy proud.”
Normally found at East Cove Military Port on the south coast, Clyde herself was in Stanley for liberation events and threw her gangway open to inhabitants of the capital to have a look around on the day after formal ceremonies.
Clyde is due to complete her work around the Falklands around the turn of the year, when HMS Forth, first of the new generation of River-class patrol vessels, takes over from her.
