Success for the Royal Fleet Auxiliary at Britannia Royal Naval College Dartmouth Open Day

21 July 2017
Saturday 8th of July 2017, Britannia Royal Naval College, Dartmouth once again opened its gates to the public and for the first time the Royal Fleet Auxiliary Division had the opportunity to set up and man a stall and was represented by four enthusiastic officers and cadets currently undergoing training at the college.

The day started with a wide spread raid of the classrooms which left the neighbouring Royal Navy Navigation school looking bare and envious. As visitors flooded in and worked their way up to the college’s front doors, just to the right of the main entrance they found lots of souvenirs and information on the RFA.

Many visitors wandered up intrigued by all the pictures, information and a model of the now no longer in service RFA Gold Rover.

All of them left with a greater understanding of the RFA’s key roles within the Royal Navy. However, others left inspired and armed with information about possible future careers.

Senior RFA training officer at BRNC 2/O Garry Owen commented, “We set out with the aim to increase awareness of the RFA and motivate potential new recruits; both were achieved."
