Royal Navy Road Racers made their way to the Isle of Anglesey on the North Wales Coast to hit the track towards the end of their racing season.

CPOAET Liam Sutherland was among those representing the Royal Navy (RN) and said, 'Thursday saw changing weather with some heavy downpours as the team made their way from various corners of the country, along the North Wales Coast to the Isle of Angelsey to set up the pit area.

'Waking up to a slightly cloudy scene on Friday would signal the end of the damp weather leaving everyone to enjoy a track walk to start a dry weekend of riding. All the team riders were split among the Pre-Injection 600, Newcomer 600 and CB500 classes, so were able to share some track time together during the practice sessions in preparation for the competitive sessions.

'Saturday saw everyone take to the track for their class qualifying and first race of the weekend. The CB500 riders were up first, to earn their grid spots on the large and extremely competitve 41 place grid. An eventful race followed with RN riders Natalie Cro and Paul Lewis finishing in 33rd and 34th respectively, while the other serving team member Harry Morris was involved with a lap 1 incident, resulting in a DNF.

'Up next were the 600's where the other RN riders were competing in a combined field of pre-injection machines and novice riders on fuel injected "modern" bikes. 5 RN riders lined up on the grid of 34, Max Wilmot leading the way for the team finishing 17th overall and 4th in the pre-injection class with Jamieson Carne 1 place behind overall and 14th of the newcomers. The pair were followed up by Simon Massey (21st), Alan Curtis (22nd) and Liam Sutherland (27th).

'Sunday opened with qualifying for the GB Racing supported Inter-Services Championship event. 6 team riders lining up with Harry Morris heading up the RN effort, qualifying 7th of the 32 competitors.

'Unfortunately he would have a coming together with another rider early on during the race leading to another DNF, Si Massey also suffered a fall during the race which caused damaged to his bike that ended his competition for the weekend.

'Jamieson Carne scored the top RN finish in 15th place followed by Max Wilmot (17th), Alan Curtis (20th), Liam Sutherland (25th) and Nat Cro (28th).

'Sunday also saw the remaining class races take place, the CB500's being the busiest with 3 more races which had close battles throughout the entire field. Harry earning 21st, 20th, & 11th, Paul in 34th, 35th & 34th and Nat in 35th, 34th & 35th.'

The 600's ran 2 class races during the day with results as follows: Max 17th & 16th, Simon 19th & DNS, Jamieson 20th & DNF, Alan DNF & 20th and finally Liam DNF & 24th.

This closed a busy and eventful weekend for the team, who left the track ready for the next round and the challenging Oulton Park circuit.
