Royal Navy BJJ Team Completes Training Camp in San Diego Ahead of Inter-Service Competition

The camp saw Royal Navy personnel training extensively at Legion American Jiu Jitsu under the instruction of internationally recognised coach Miha Perhavec, alongside Sloan Clymer and the wider Legion coaching team. The programme included intensive Gi and NoGi sessions designed to further develop technical ability, competition readiness, and team cohesion ahead of the 2026 Interservice Competition in July.
The opportunity provided athletes and coaches with exposure to high-level coaching and elite training environments, supporting both sporting performance and wider personal development through Royal Navy sport.
Exercise Golden State Grapple forms part of the Royal Navy’s continued commitment to developing operationally effective, resilient, and physically capable personnel through competitive sport and adventurous training opportunities.
The Royal Navy BJJ Team expressed its gratitude to Legion American Jiu Jitsu for their hospitality, professionalism, and continued support throughout the camp.
Special thanks are also extended to sponsors Irwin Mitchell for their support in enabling the team’s training activity in the United States.
