Whether you’re stepping into a boat for the first time or returning to a sport you love, rowing offers space to reset, connect, and feel part of something bigger.

Whether you’re a first-time rower or experienced on the water, there are opportunities at all abilities and age categories to compete.
Whether you’re a cox, coach or rower you will have the chance to grow confidence, leadership, and skills that last well beyond the boathouse.
From enjoying a leisurely paddle on the water to representing the Royal Navy or UK Armed Forces at home and abroad, Royal Navy Rowing offers it all. Training takes place at our regional hub’s establishments (with the exception of HMNB Clyde) have a thriving Gig Rowing Community waiting for you to join.
Our rowing association
RN Rowing Association includes Fine Boat Rowing, Gig Rowing, Coastal and Indoor Rowing and categories include Men’s and Women’s categories:
- Beginner
- Novice
- Open / Elite
- Masters
Indoor rowing and Masters events are broken down into age categories to ensure fairness in competition. Gig Masters are 60+
