RM Condor
RM Condor, located in Arbroath, Scotland, serves as the base for several important military units. These include 45 Commando Royal Marines, which is part of the elite 3 Commando Brigade. Additionally, 7 (Sphinx) Battery of 29 Commando Regiment Royal Artillery, 2 Signals Squadron from 32 Signals Regiment, and 30 Commando Information Exploitation Group Royal Military Police Detachment are also housed at RM Condor. Collectively, these units are known as 45 Commando Group, and their presence at the base contributes to the overall strength and capabilities of the Royal Marines.
Woodlands Garden
Woodlands Garden is a serene and meaningful space located at RM Condor, created for remembrance and reflection within the community of 45 Commando.
Originally an unused vegetable patch, the garden now features an eight-tonne granite memorial stone engraved with the names of fallen commandos. Designed by Toby Buckland, the garden incorporates rocks from the lands where 45 Commando personnel have lost their lives, providing a place for quiet contemplation. The transformation of the garden was funded by donations from the local community and the men themselves. The Royal Marines Association supports The Woodlands Garden Trust, and contributions can be made online or by mail.
