Aim
Command, Leadership & Management (CLM) training to develop the key skills of supervisors by undertaking instruction in the theoretical and practical aspects of CLM.
Course details
The training is based around Blanchard’s Situational Leadership model and is designed for junior personnel as they start their leadership journey. Theoretical and practical instruction will take place in the following areas:
- Command, Leadership and Management principles
- Situational Leadership training. Decision making and problem-solving exercises including individual and syndicate practical desktop exercises. A leader of a group conducting the planning, utilisation of resources, analysing and resolving complex situations during a practical evolution
- Utilisation of power, authority and influence to maintain control, discipline and standards within a group. Creating realistic goals and objectives for the team and self
- Application of effective diagnosis and flexible leadership styles to achieve goals
- Motivation and morale of subordinates by evaluation and provision of feedback on the performance of teams and individuals
- Oral communication including presentations and briefs
Exams and Qualifications gained
On completion students will be able to:
- Explain the principles of CLM
- Understand how and when to use the varying styles of Situational Leadership and other leadership models
- Evaluate a given task and be able to process the situation and guide their team to a successful outcome
- Deliver a short presentation in a clear, concise and well-structured format
