Defence aptitude assessment (DAA)

About the DAA

The DAA consists of 6 different tests, all presented in a multiple-choice format.

  • The link to your assessment will be sent to your candidate portal and will remain valid for 14 days.
  • During this period, you can start the assessment at a time that best suits you; however, once you begin, it must be completed in a single sitting.
  • You may take the DAA at home using the link provided or you can arrange to attend your local AFCO by speaking to your Career Advisor.
  • Once you have completed the assessment, we will contact you to discuss your next steps.

Familiarisation questions

It’s ok to practice the tests on your phone, but the actual test must be taken on a screen size of at least 10.2 inches.

  • The practice questions are in the same format as the real assessment. There are six different tests, all presented in a multiple-choice format and each section is timed.
  • Be prepared.  Set aside about 30-40 minutes in a quiet location where you can focus. Turn off notifications.
  • The test has easy and hard questions. Requirements differ by Profession and Specialisation, so you don’t need to answer every question correctly to succeed. Just try your best!
