University Cadetship Entry

How it works

The highest calibre year 12/13 students, with the appropriate GCSEs or equivalent, who are predicted to achieve 144 UCAS points can enter the Royal Navy under the University Cadetship Entry scheme. They will conduct basic training at BRNC before completing their degree at university while getting paid an appropriate salary and having tuition fees paid throughout.

There are limited places available each year, but if you’re successful, you’ll gain a fully funded degree, get your hands on some seriously sophisticated kit, and have a guaranteed job waiting for you when you graduate.

What you'll need

  • Five GCSEs at grade 7 or higher, including English and Maths
  • 144 UCAS points in non-overlapping subjects, with at least 40 in maths and an engineering-based science
  • High pass score at the Admiralty Interview Board (AIB) 
  • Accepted onto a degree course in a UK university studying an Engineering degree or acceptable STEM subject
