Shin splints is the terms often referred to when describing pain caused by exercise in the front of the lower leg. It is often caused by strenuous activity, particularly running on hard surfaces like pavements or roads. It is best to stop this type of activity for at least two weeks if you are suffering. You can still exercise during this time but try to chose activities which don‘t involve too much force on your shins such as cycling or swimming.
