Life in the Royal Navy is wide-ranging and incredibly varied, and therefore requires a good level of physical fitness. That doesn’t mean you have to be an athlete to start the recruitment process. In fact, many of our applicants are already capable of achieving the physical standards we require, while others may simply need to do a little training.

Stages & standards

Before you can start your training, we need to conduct a number of physical assessments. Once successfully completed you can begin your Royal Navy journey

To help you prepare, here are the physical stages that you will have to complete. In most cases, we are not looking for Olympic athletes, however fitness standards for divers are required to be better than some others within the Royal Navy
