The Defence Aptitude Assessment (DAA) is an essential part of the joining process, with the tests that form it being recognised as strong indicators for in-role performance at all ranks, and across all Branches and Services of the Royal Navy. In order to give you the best chance of passing the full DAA, these example questions are your opportunity to practise: - You should always try and achieve the highest mark in each section - Getting more familiar and comfortable with the format and process will also help you perform to your best - We recommend you practise at least a couple of times, but more if possible - But also make sure you take time out between your practises - allowing your fingers, eyes and mind to get some rest
PART ONE
This section tests your ability to fit shapes together. In each question you will be given five options (labelled A-E) for what a new shape might look like. You have to decide which one is correct. In each question you will be shown either three or four shapes. You have to imagine what they will look like when they are joined together. All of the shapes have at least one side that is labelled with a letter (either x, y or z). You have to place the sides with the same labels next to each other to form a new shape. For example:

The section is made up of two questions.
The target time to answer them is 50 seconds.
The clock will start counting down when you begin.
The timer has now finished but you can continue to answer the questions. In the real test, you will not be able to continue. Please submit your test to see your mark.
